You are invited to the recap of my MFA Thesis Exhibit.

A merging of graphic design and urban infrastructure has created a story of placemaking through the creation of sustainable cultural artifacts. My MFA Thesis in Graphic Design and Visual Experience strives to bring awareness to the importance and value of the functional items around us and how they can represent us, our past, and our future.

PART ONE / ELEMENTS OF MFA THESIS

It all started with this thesis presentation I made for Savannah College of Art and Design. This video was part of the thesis review materials I submitted to prove my topic had value and purpose.

PART TWO / ELEMENTS OF MY MFA THESIS

With over 230 images submitted, this 30+ minute reel is a global collaboration showcasing manhole cover designs from around the world. This reel was used as an element in my MFA Thesis Exhibit in August 2019 at Santa Fe Gallery. Thank you to each person who participated!

PART THREE / ELEMENTS OF MY MFA THESIS

Recap documentary film created to immortalize my MFA Thesis Exhibit. The exhibit, along with the thesis paper, was completed as part of the graduate degree requirements for Savannah College of Art and Design. The full gallery exhibit, entitled Manhole Covers, Cultural Artifacts, and Sense of Place, was held at the Santa Fe Art Gallery at Santa Fe College. Video produced by Eric Flagg.

PART FOUR / ELEMENTS OF MY MFA THESIS

Without a doubt, the most grueling part of this MFA process was getting my perspective and arguments clearly stated and thoroughly researched. This resulted in a long, but intriguing paper about graphic design’s place and value to urban infrastructure as it relates to our history and our sense of belonging in our communities. My MFA degree is in the fields of Graphic Design and Visual Experience. My thesis paper can be viewed and read here.

You can still be a part of this ongoing project.
