Shawna will also give a personal presentation and will open the floor for questions after her presentation. The presentation will cover both how and why she came to address the topic of urban infrastructure as a graphic designer and visual communicator.
The evening will showcase images from Shawna’s personal collection of manhole cover photographs, along with both interactive and documentary displays based on her full thesis topic. As an example of community and history there will also be a digital display of manhole cover photographs from around the world that have been crowdsourced from fellow enthusiasts, and willing family and friends.
Collaborations: Wes Lindberg will showcase his video work, using manhole covers as his subject, with a technique that involves three GoPros! Josh Huey will exhibit screenprinting work inspired by the topic of manhole covers and culture.
